What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is about delivering computing serveries remotely over the internet.

This term is relatively new and this term is appeared in 1996. By 2008 cloud services became very popular and many companies where switching from the traditional on-premises model to cloud computing services model.

What is Cloud Deployment Model?

A cloud deployment model is defined according to where the infrastructure for the deployment resides and who has control over that infrastructure. Cloud deployment frameworks are used to execute the cloud infrastructure. In terms of access control, authentication policies, ownership, and management, these models vary. The following are the five most popular cloud implementation models:

  • Public
  • Private
  • Hybrid
  • Community Cloud

Organizations can gain a strategic edge and increase efficiency by using cloud implementation models. Every day, new cloud infrastructure architectures emerge, and companies use a variety of cloud implementation solutions to address organizational challenges.

Public Cloud

The most commonly deployed cloud service is the public cloud model. For web apps, file sharing, and non-sensitive data storage, this cloud category is a common choice.

All of the hardware used to manage a public cloud is owned and operated by the service provider. Tools are held in large data centers by providers.

In growth and research, the hybrid cloud distribution paradigm is critical. For creation and training, developers often use public cloud technology. Its virtual world is inexpensive, easy to install, and deploy, making it ideal for test environments.

Example of Public Cloud: Google App Engine, Microsoft Windows Azure ,IBM Smart Cloud, Amazon EC2

Advantages of Public Cloud

  • No Hardware Investment
  • Low Cost
  • No Cost for Infrastructure Management
  • Reliability

Disadvantages of Public Cloud

  • Security and Privacy
  • Limited Resources

Private Cloud

A public cloud is open to everyone, while a private cloud belongs to a single company. This company is in charge of the infrastructure and oversees it from a central location. Although a private cloud server can be hosted by a third party, most businesses prefer to have the infrastructure in-house. All will then be overseen and managed by an in-house staff.

The internal or business cloud deployment model is also known as the private cloud deployment model.

Example of Private Cloud: VMware Cloud Infrastructure Suite,

Microsoft ECI data center ,

Eucalyptus ,

Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud — UEC (powered by Eucalyptus) ,

Amazon VPC (Virtual Private Cloud)

Advantages of Private Cloud

  • Data Privacy:
  • Customization:
  • Security:

Disadvantages of Private Cloud

  • Maintenance: .
  • High Cost:
  • Low Scalability

Hybrid Cloud

In a hybrid cloud, an organization’s private and public cloud systems are intertwined. Many businesses follow this model when they need to quickly scale up their IT infrastructure, such as by using public clouds to complement the space available in a private cloud.A hybrid cloud combines the advantages of private and public clouds, as well as proprietary technologies. The apps can run in a highly stable and protected environment.

Examples of Hybrid Cloud: VMware vCloud (Hybrid Cloud Services) ,Windows Azure (capable of Hybrid Cloud)

Advantages of Hybrid Cloud

  • Cost-effectiveness: .
  • Security: .
  • Flexibility: .

Disadvantages of Hybrid Cloud

  • Complexity:
  • Specific use case:

Community Cloud

In Community cloud several companies share the cloud platform, which serves a specific population with common interests (e.g., mission, security requirements, policy, and compliance considerations). It can be handled by the organisations themselves or by a third party, and it can be on-site or off-site. The private cloud configuration is somewhat similar to the private cloud setup. The only difference between the two is that in the Private cloud setup, the cloud storage servers and facilities are managed by a single corporate company. Many organisations share their resource pools and, by doing so, save their operations, maintenance, infrastructure, and deployment costs.

Example of Community Cloud :Shared by specific community having shared concerns like Google Apps for Government, Microsoft Government Community CloudOn-site

Advantages of Community Clouds

  • Low Cost:
  • Easy Setup

Disadvantages of Community Cloud

  • Shared Resources: .
  • Low Popularity:

Conclusion

To summarize, cloud storage is a new technology that offers a number of advantages, but there is also a lot of testing that needs to be done in this field so many of the questions around protection and privacy have not been addressed by experts and remain unanswered. However, information technology such as Microsoft, Google, Cisco, and IBM are investing heavily in this field, and the day is not far off when the cloud will be widely embraced and all security and privacy concerns will be addressed. The different types of cloud service models and the risks associated with each is addressed in this article.
